GP-SOP-004 | Publishing Quality
Review an AI Draft for Accuracy and Voice
A cleaner draft that is accurate, useful, human, and consistent with the publication's voice.
When to use this SOP
Use this before publishing any AI-assisted article, email, guide, product copy, or long-form social post.
What you need
- The current draft
- The approved source material
- Your brand writing guide
- The intended reader and desired outcome
The procedure
Follow these steps
- 01
Read the draft once without editing and identify the main promise it makes.
- 02
Verify names, dates, prices, product capabilities, technical instructions, and factual claims against sources.
- 03
Remove unsupported certainty, invented experience, fake quotations, and vague authority claims.
- 04
Check whether the opening reaches the useful point quickly and matches the reader's intent.
- 05
Replace generic AI phrases with concrete language, real examples, or firsthand context.
- 06
Break up dense lists when a short explanation would read more naturally.
- 07
Review links, headings, calls to action, and formatting as part of the reading experience.
- 08
Read the final copy aloud and correct sentences you would not naturally say.
Human checkpoint
Stop and review before continuing
The editor owns the final claim. A polished sentence is still a problem if nobody verified it.
Definition of done
- Important claims are verified
- The draft does not pretend to have experience it lacks
- The voice is recognizable and consistent
- The structure is easy to scan without becoming a list dump
- The call to action fits the reader's next step
When the process gets stuck
If the draft needs line-by-line rescue, return to the brief and rewrite the weakest section instead of polishing unreliable copy.
Where automation fits
AI can flag possible issues and compare a draft against a style guide. A human should approve every substantive correction.
